Archie Leroy Burkett of Douglas passed away on June 27, 2015. Archie was born on August 23, 1935 in Junction, Texas to Troy Burkett and Rebecca Atkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Victoria and his loving children Gale (Linda), Tammy (Mike), Tina (Julian), and Lee. Archie is also survived by his brothers Jerry Don, Jimmy, and Johnny Jordan, as well as six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers, Billy and J.C. Archie joined the Army in 1953 and served for 21 years, retiring in 1974. He returned to Douglas in 1994 and became involved with the American Legion, serving three terms as Commander, as well as being a lifelong member of the VFW. He was an avid bowler and was runner up at the Senior National Tournament representing the state of Arizona. A Memorial Service for Archie will be celebrated at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Brown Page Mortuary. Inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the Southern Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista with Full Military Honors by the Fort Huachuca Color Guard.
