Angelina Zita
Ramirez
Sep 24, 1928 — Jul 11, 2018
Angelina Damiani Ramirez, born September 24, 1928, in Nogales, Arizona, to Italian Antonio and Paulina Damiani, passed away July 11, 2018, in Douglas, Arizona. Angelina, along with her three sisters, attended Lourdes Academy boarding school in Nogales, Arizona. Antonio, her father, opened a grocery store in Nogales, Sonora, and felt his daughters would be better taken care of by nuns at the Academy. Upon graduating from school the sisters worked at their father's store, where they were often called the spaghetti's, because of their Italian heritage. Angelina married R. V. Ramirez soon after graduation. They moved to Pirtelville, where they had two children, Rudy and Rebecca, whom they raised there. Angelina was widowed at the young age of 48. She was a devout Catholic and her life largely revolved around the church. She was very active in assisting with church social functions and sang in the choir for many years. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to cook. She had many friends who visited her. When she was unable to take care of herself, Jovita Hernandez moved in to help her. She quickly came to love Jovita as a second daughter. When Angie began to take unsupervised walks through the neighborhood, her family moved her to Esther's Adult Care Home. She loved and was loved by Rosa and Esgardo, the owners of the home. While there, she was taken care of by Jovita and the other wonderful employees of the home. She is preceded in death by her husband, R. V. Ramirez, daughter in law, Isa, sisters Lidia and Maria, and brothers Tony, Pio, Manuel, Cani, and Memo. She is survived by her sisters, Celia and Filomena, son, Rudy Ramirez (Diana), daughter, Rebecca Walsh (Steve), godson, Joey Verdugo (Isela), grandsons Josh (Heather), Jake (Monica), and Cary (Vanessa ) Walsh and Andrei Ramirez (Yolanda), and great grandsons Adan and Lucas Ramirez and Thomas, Austin, Colin, and Ethan Walsh. She was also Nina to Marie, Joely, and Evan Verdugo. She will be missed by her family and many friends.Memorial services will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Pirtelville, Saturday, July 21, 2018, beginning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Pirtleville Cemetery Committee, P.O.
