Longtime resident Anacleto M. Campas passed away in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family on February 26, 2014. Anacleto was born in Mexico on July 13, 1919. He came to the United States as a young man and was a longtime resident of Douglas. He worked for Phelps Dodge Corporation as a very skilled and proficient heavy equipment operator. He retired after 40 years of service with this company. He was a great sports fan. He particularly liked the Cleveland Indians and most recently became a Arizona Diamondbacks fan. He spent numerous hours watching baseball games and boxing events. He especially enjoyed all his family and spent many hours catering to his grandchildren. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was a member of Saint Luke's Catholic Church and devoted many hours to volunteer work for the church. He was especially active in delivering meals to the elderly and homebound members of his community. He was a very proud member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree Knight. Anacleto is survived by his wife Natalia Campas of 54 years; sons Frank Campas (Mary Lou), Anacleto Campas Jr. (Debbie) and David E. Campas (Diane); daughters Stella Galvez, Sylvia (Dora) Estrada, Marisela Samaniego, and Lucy Sotelo (Jose Luis) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Page Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. Luke's Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 10:00 a.m. with Father Gilbert Malu officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. He will be greatly missed by all members of his family, all who knew him, along with the community he served in. The family wishes to thank the medical staff of Southeast Arizona Medical Center and Sierra Vista Regional Hospital as well as the Hospice care providers (Casa de la Paz) for their kindness and professionalism provided to Anacleto.
