Altagracia C. Perez, 96, of Douglas, Arizona, passed away, peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2016, surrounded by her family at Canyon Vista Hospital in Sierra Vista, Arizona.
Grace was born on April 29, 1920, in Douglas, Arizona, to Jose and Antonia (Arvizu) Carrillo. She was a life-long resident of Douglas where she met and married her husband of over forty-five years, Damian C. Perez. Grace was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Grace worked very hard throughout her life, with her most important jobs being a homemaker and caretaker. Grace was always full of life, even up until her last day. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grands and her greats. Grace's favorite past time was playing Aggravation. Her competitive nature, strength, and perseverance were inspiring. Grace always had a beautiful smile on her face. She was a loving, caring, thoughtful, and generous woman. She touched so many lives, leaving such a positive impact on all. "To know her was to love her." Grace was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Antonia, her husband Damian, children Norma and Damian, and siblings Sofia Serna, Esquipula Carrillo, Carlota Marruffo, Gabriel Carrillo, Refugio Romero, and Carlos Carrillo. Grace leaves to cherish her loving memory her sister Anastacia Perez, her children Jose (Maria Jesus) Yourgules, Enrique 'Henry' Vargas, Marie Perez, Linda (Octavio) Melgoza, Bertha (Thomas) Whitby, and Lettie Perez (Daniel); her grandchildren Jose (Lynn), Alex (Carmen), Denise, Mariza (David), Lisa, Esmeralda, Lorena, Joanne (Manny), Claudia, Eloisa (Hector), Denise (Julio), Roxana, Claudia (Ray), Octavio (Karely), Erik (Courtney), Mark (Edith), Pierre (Marisol), Korina, Tommy, Alexis (Stephanie), Carissa, Joshua (Yeraldi), and Jeremy; 61 great grandchildren, 30 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Brown Page Mortuary Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated following the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. with Father Martin Bosco officiating. Burial will follow at Julia Page Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Alex Yourgules, Ricky Ruiz, Ruben Hernandez, Mark Melgoza, Alexis Whitby, and Joshua Perez. Honorary Pallbearers are Jose Yourgules, Henry Vargas, Joey Hernandez, Tommy Whitby, Jeremy Perez, Mateo Lopez, and Andres Romero.
